Mediawatcher

MEDIA family (WATCHER/STOR)

The ability to swiftly reach and search through information is more important today, than ever before. This is true regardless of the type of data in question – be it hard copy (print), on-line media , or even broadcast TV available via cable, satellite or on-line channels.

CLARMONT I.S. Ltd has developed a family of solutions targeted at the latter media segment:

  • MEDIAWATCHER system
  • MEDIASTOR (A/V archive) system (e.g: NAVA - National A/V archives)

The two solutions are based on the same core system, each with different processing and metadata modules and interfaces which make them suitable for different target segments.

MEDIAWATCHER help for the media companies, political parties, administrations and thier communication teams

In today’s rapidly shifting political landscape, it is becoming even more important for a political entity to keep up with the coverage that they receive in the broadcast media marketplace. It is a well-known fact that broadcast media reaches far more people than print media possibly could; though Internet media is gaining a large portion of the market share, it is still a well-recognized fact that TV and radio broadcasting reaches more people on a daily basis. It is easy to maintain tracking of prepared elements in these markets as well as the more traditional printed press, but what about those interviews, quotes, mentions in news broadcasts? How can you keep track of the content of unplanned content such as debates or reactions to current events? What about broadcast third party references and/or analysis of your party platform or individual members? What if you could easily gather video clips from previous TV appearances of certain individuals and/or concerning certain subjects?

Having a searchable video archive at your fi ngertips could mean the difference between being prepared to meet the challenges of the day and being defeated by your competition.

In short, MEDIAWATCHER is designed to continuously record and archive analog / digital terrestrial, satellite and/or on-line TV channels and provide an archive that can be searched with multiple parameters (persons, events, time etc). Raw broadcasts are initially captured in 1hr segments which are then processed. Both previous selection and processed segments can be extracted, cut and joined to create new selections which are then associated with extended meta-data. This meta-data provides a base for the query capabilities of the system.System access is limited to internal, private use only.

MEDIASTOR (A/V archival/storage)

MEDIASTOR most closely resembles a national programme service depository
archive, the nature of which is to gather and archive for posterity a wide range of audio-visual content from multiple broadcast sources. It is capable of capturing, processing and archiving any TV or radio broadcast that can be received by a PC - received via cable, terrestrial or satellite broadcast. In addition it can import and incorporate and other digital A/V or image content that can be uploaded to the system. With the appropriate import modules, MEDIASTOR can also import and convert existing archives, ensuring a standardized,  long-term centralized archive. Non-digital archives (film, recordings) can also be added to the archive after they have been converted to a digital format.

In contrast to MEDIAWATCHER, MEDIASTOR provides you with the ability to provide legally compliant on-line access to the search function and streaming media from the archive database. All of the shows and content in full can be made available to educational facilities (schools), institutions, or anywhere where a broadband Internet connection is available.

Who can benefit from implementation of a MEDIASTOR solution?
  • Agencies requiring a searchable Audio/Video Archive – e.g. Libraries, national archives
  • Educational Institutions – Universities, Colleges etc.
  • Public Institutions
  • Large enterprises (e.g. Internal training videos, orientation, A/V archives)
